Grandpa In My Pocket - Series 2 (TV Show)

A new set was built for the second series of Grandpa In My Pocket. I created 3D visuals of Phil Williams design for the interior of a lighthouse. During the shoot I was on site as full time prop maker, building things like this:

International Business Wales (Exhibition Stand)

An in-development design for an exhibition stand. There needed to be eight separate exhibitor areas as well as a shared central area.

Miserable Mill (Concept)

This is a self generated concept of an elaborate wood mill set for a children's fantasy film. Based on the Lemony Snicket book 'The Miserable Mill', the challenge was to design a wood mill that is both interesting to look at but would be extremely boring to work in.

Urdd Eisteddfod 2009 (Theatre Set)

This theatre set was on stage at the Wales Millenium Centre for the Urdd Eisteddfod 2009 and was also televised. The design was by Phil Williams and I modelled and animated it to show various arrangments of the key elements.

Kreepshow (TV Set)

A self generated concept for a childrens TV Show based on a haunted house theme. There are areas for guest interviews, music performance, ghost catching games, and resident characters.

Grampa In My Pocket (TV Show)

I was part of the Art Department for CBBC's Grampa In My Pocket. General duties included making a six foot fishbone, giant sandcastle, Aunt Loretta's Green Gloop drink, Odd Botty the Robot and many many trifles to go in Mr Whoops' face!

Blayson (Graphic Design & Photography)

A set of six large graphic panels to showcase Blayson's variety of wax products. I also did the product photography and related print ads for international industry journals.

Shed Convention (Short Film)

I worked as Art Director on a time-travelling comedy short called Shed Convention. The image above is a blueprint from which the main character builds his time travelling kettle.

Concept Design for British Eurosport Set

A draft concept design for the British Eurosport set modelled in 3D studio Max.

Nice Beaches (Graphic Design)

DVD cover design for Nice Beaches, a short film which was shot on some beautiful locations in Cornwall, UK. I was one of two Production Designers who worked on the film and was more than happy to revisit the project in a graphic design role.

Above: Front Cover. The landscape design shows a dreamlike 'postcard moment' between the two characters who experience a brief chance encounter before going their separate ways.

Above: Back Cover, continuing the postcard theme.

Inspiration, Shebangg (Music Video)

I Directed and edited this music video for the release of Shebangg's single 'Inspiration'. The video was shot over two days in a TV studio and on location at Porthkerry beach, Cardiff.

The Seagull (Theatre)

I worked as one of the two Art Directors on a new production of Checkov's The Seagull. It ran at the Riverfront Theatre, Newport during the last week of November 2007.

Above: Director Andy Smith discussed his take on the play and we produced this initial concept design to convey the fragmentation, decay and isolation of the characters. 3D Studio Max was used for the visualisation.

Above: After measuring up the performance space at the Riverfront Theatre the concept was scaled and altered to fit. The main change being to reduce the depth of the set as the space was quite shallow.

Above: A shot of the stage during rehearsals with our wooden decking successfully taking the weight of ten cast members! There were limitations on hanging set pieces from the grid as originally intended so we opted instead to make full use of the height of the space by hanging floor to ceiling (10m) material panels.

Note also the 7ft chandelier which was made in my living room from an umberella and £70 of Christmas decorations!

Thanks to lighting director Sam Stringer for showing off our work with his work.

Jetsam (Film Poster Design)

I designed a poster for the film Jetsam, an atmospheric thriller staring Alex Reid (The Descent). For more details on the film see Jetsam on IMDB.

Walk You Home (Music Video)

In July 2007 I worked on the music video 'Walk You Home' for the band Passenger. It was filmed at night on location in Hampstead, London. The whole video was shot in a single take using a 360° Stedicam. My role as Art Department included prop buying, set dressing in the street and scale modelmaking.

Pentre Bach (Children's TV - S4C)

During May 2006 I spent a week working on the art department for children's TV show Pentre Bach, which is shown on S4C. It was a great experience working with production designer Andy Bradshaw, the highlight was dressing Sali Mali's Cafe for a Spanish party and making paella! Ben Morson
